India is changing. But untouchables have remained untouchables in rural India even in the 21st century. We have seen shocking and inhuman untouchable practices in hundreds of South Indian villages. The most common insult to Dalits is at the doors of homes of upper castes and public temples. One positive change over the years is that Dalits from outside have entry into some temples and some homes. But native Dalits, in spite of improvement in their financial status, have to stand outside the homes of touchables and public temples. We have started ‘Gruhapravesh’ to invite Dalit brothers and sisters into the houses of upper caste people. Please join hands to make India an untouchability free nation.
